Gospel Lk 9:57-62 Want to follow Jesus successfully? As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." And to another he said, "Follow me." Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. "Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is righteous will receive a righteous man's reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these

Gospel Mk 10:28-31 Peter began to say to Jesus, 'We have given up everything and followed you." Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come. But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first." Reflections God’s blessings are abundant in the life of those who live for him. In today’s gospel Peter on behalf of his companions voiced out loud the doubt about what  they would get in return for  all the sacrifices they made in following him, leaving everything behind. Jesus reassures his disciples that their commitment has its greater reward than the earthly reward, Eternal Life. The sacrifice and persecution they go through for his sake
