 Gospel Lk 21:34-36 Get ready for Christmas Gospel Text: Jesus said to his disciples: "Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man." Reflections:  Everyone wants to be happy in life. And a common phrase we hear these days is, “Do what makes you happy.” Yes, it is desirable to be happy, to be contented, and to enjoy life. Yet, we are in a world plaqued by all kinds of ills—wars, violence, corruption, oppression, sickness, division, extremism, loss of moral and cultural values and etc. So we are caught in between—our readiness to enjoy life, and the stress and tension that come our way uninvited.  Gospel Lk 12:35-38 Learning to be vigilant?....  Jesus said to his disciples: "Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants." Reflections : This parable is an indication of our lives as servants of God. Jesus has called each one of us to serve God who is ready to reward those who have laboured in his absence, and are awake and alert . Jesus is a loving redeemer and protector. Our Master’s return will be   glorious  for those who believe in him and have sought to know him through prayer, the scriptures and following the path he showed.
