Reading 1 Acts 14:5-18
Gospel Jn 14:21-26
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him."
Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him,
"Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us
and not to the world?"
Jesus answered and said to him,
"Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words;
yet the word you hear is not mine
but that of the Father who sent me.
"I have told you this while I am with you.
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit
whom the Father will send in my name --
he will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you."
Reflections:
: "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. What a powerful promise! We are meant to be 'home' to Almighty God. God wants to live in us and touch the world through us with his love and mercy. It is our obedience to God's commands that will open the door of God's blessing and enable us to fulfil the prophetic calling. God has poured out his Spirit upon us to teach us about the love of the Father and to reveal the power of the resurrection in our lives. As we open ourselves to his teaching, our relationship with God will deepen and we will be confirmed in his image. We will trust that the power of the indwelling Spirit is greater than any other power that might stand against us. In short, we will become more and more like Jesus.
Action:
Make today’s mantra: "Abba Father, purify my mind in the holy blood of Jesus and fill my mind with your Holy Spirit.”
