26 April, 2024 | Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter
Acts 13:26-33
Gospel Jn 14:1-6
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”
Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Reflections:
"No one comes to the Father except through me". Jesus claims to be the way, the truth and the life. He is not just a guide to salvation; he is the source of life and truth. He himself is the way to the Father's house. He himself is the way to experience the essence of truth and fullness of life, the greatest aspiration of humanity. Those who believe in him and are baptized in his name will be saved. We don't need to be perplexed or unduly distressed by the state of the world. We don't have to be bound by anxiety about every aspect of our lives. The joy, peace and love we long for can be found in Jesus. The way to heaven is not a procedure or a method to be grasped. The way is Jesus himself, the truth is Jesus himself, and the life is Jesus himself.
Action:
