 Acts 5:27-33

Gospel Jn 3:31-36

The one who comes from above is above all.
The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things.
But the one who comes from heaven is above all.
He testifies to what he has seen and heard,
but no one accepts his testimony.
Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy.
For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God.
He does not ration his gift of the Spirit.
The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,
but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God remains upon him.

Reflections:

Jesus, who came from heaven, speaks of heavenly things. We who are of the earth speak of material or worldly things. But the truth is that we are made for heaven and the earth is only a temporary home. That which is of the earth or of the world is transient; that which is of heaven is eternal. Jesus invites us to journey towards that home. Our thinking and behaviour, our needs and desires, our relationships - everything is coloured by our earthly nature. We need to rise above these temporary realities, knowing that we are pilgrims of hope, journeying towards our heavenly home. Let us not lose sight of our vision through attachment to this world and its concerns.

 Action:

I will introspect my attachment to possessions – material and psychological.
