30 November 2023 | Feast of Saint Andrew, Apostle
Gospel Mt 4:18-22
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers,
Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew,
casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen.
He said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."
At once they left their nets and followed him.
He walked along from there and saw two other brothers,
James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John.
They were in a boat, with their father Zebedee, mending their nets.
He called them, and immediately they left their boat and their father
and followed him
Reflections:
Jesus' call to these simple fishermen is an invitation to follow him leaving behind previous way of life. God can choose ordinary people and use them for extraordinary purposes when they response generously to His call. This call represents an invitation to discipleship. Following Jesus is a life-altering journey that calls for faith, obedience, and a willingness to leave behind all kinds of attachments for the sake of a greater purpose. As Christian, our attitude towards his call should be willingness to respond with a sense of urgency and submission.
Activity:
When you feel called to make a significant change or step in your life, don't delay. Take immediate action.
