 Gospel Lk 21:1-4

Gospel Text:

When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people

putting their offerings into the treasury

and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.

He said, "I tell you truly,

this poor widow put in more than all the rest;

for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth,

but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood."

Reflections:

In this gospel passage, Jesus highlights that the value of an offering is not solely measured by the amount but by the heart and intention behind it. The widow's two small coins were worth very little in monetary terms, but her gift was significant because it represented her willingness to give sacrificially. Jesus reminds us that God sees our actions and knows our hearts. We are reminded that giving is a matter of the heart and faith, and it's not about the quantity. Our acts of generosity should be a reflection of our faith and devotion to God, and not a show of our wealth or status.

Activity:

Make giving a priority in your life. Allocate a portion of your income for charitable contributions or offerings.
