Gospel Lk 19:45-48
Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out
those who were selling things, saying to them,
"It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer,
but you have made it a den of thieves."
And every day he was teaching in the temple area.
The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile,
were seeking to put him to death,
but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose
because all the people were hanging on his words.
Reflections:
Jesus' actions in the temple remind us of the importance of maintaining the sanctity of sacred spaces and approach them with a sense of reverence and humility. The temple, as the house of God, was meant to be a place of prayer and worship. It invites us to contemplate our reverence for sacred spaces, our response to injustice, the priority of worship in our lives and our willingness to persevere in the face of opposition. We should reflect on our own willingness to stand for our beliefs, even when it is challenging. We need the courage of Jesus to confront and speak out when faced with powerful opposition.
Activity:
Engage in charitable acts, help those in need, and support organizations or initiatives that is similar with your faith values.
