 Gospel Mt 11:25-27

 At that time Jesus exclaimed:

"I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,

for although you have hidden these things

from the wise and the learned

you have revealed them to the childlike.

Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father.

No one knows the Son except the Father,

and no one knows the Father except the Son

and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him."

Reflections

Jesus makes a beautiful prayer to the Father. He is praising God, God of earth and heaven. He is addressing such a loving God and the question arises as to why he hides from the intelligent and the prudent people what he reveals to the simple. Jesus himself gives us the answer—it is the unique access of knowledge and the love of the Father. It is those who think they are knowledgeable, who are puffed with pride that condemn others. They think that it is by their own effort that they gained wisdom. The simple and humble people depend on God and attribute every good to God and God blesses them with wisdom as they are open and dependent on God.

Activity:
