18 July 2023 | Tuesday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time

 Gospel Mt 11:20-24

Jesus began to reproach the towns

where most of his mighty deeds had been done,

since they had not repented.

"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!

For if the mighty deeds done in your midst

had been done in Tyre and Sidon,

they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.

But I tell you, it will be more tolerable

for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.

And as for you, Capernaum:

Will you be exalted to heaven?

You will go down to the netherworld.

For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom,

it would have remained until this day.

But I tell you, it will be more tolerable

for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."

Reflections:

Our God is a God of miracles who created us and does not leave us alone. God's presence is as certain as the dawn. It is in God that we live, move and have our being. God loves  and knows us  more than we love and know ourselves, even our needs.  The all-embracing love of God surrounds us at every moment of every day and we are led, guided, and sustained by God. To recognize God and to experience God's saving power, we need to be enlightened from deep within. Often our spiritual blindness blocks us from recognizing God and God's interventions in our life.

Activity:

Make a list of the mighty deeds of God that have happened in your family this past week.
