 Gospel Mt 13:36-43

We appreciate and thank Sr Celine Sebastian FSP for her insightful reflections for the month of July, 2023.

We welcome the reflections of Sr Sushma Kullu FSP for the month of August, 2023

Gospel Text: Mt 13:36-43

Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house.

His disciples approached him and said,

"Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field."

He said in reply, "He who sows good seed is the Son of Man,

the field is the world, the good seed the children of the Kingdom.

The weeds are the children of the Evil One,

and the enemy who sows them is the Devil.

The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire,

so will it be at the end of the age.

The Son of Man will send his angels,

and they will collect out of his Kingdom

all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.

They will throw them into the fiery furnace,

where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.

Then the righteous will shine like the sun

in the Kingdom of their Father.

Whoever has ears ought to hear."

Reflection:

God created us in His own image and likeness. We are the children of God, because our origin and destiny is in God. God wills that we His children remain faithful to him  and wants us to do His will. God meant us to be good seed that produces bountiful harvest of goodness, love, forgiveness, peace and justice. Jesus speaks in the Gospel about the end of the age, wherein each one will be rewarded. The reward of the future depends on what we do today. We are not to be too much worried of the future, but to focus on living of our life as God wants us to. Just as the good seed bears good fruit may our thoughts, words and deeds be good.
