4 June, 2023 | The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

 Gospel Jn 3:16-18

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,

so that everyone who believes in him might not perish

but might have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,

but that the world might be saved through him.

Whoever believes in him will not be condemned,

but whoever does not believe has already been condemned,

because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Reflections

The mystery of the most Holy Trinity is a basic doctrine of Faith in Christianity; it teaches us that there are three distinct Persons in one God, sharing the same Divine Nature. The most beautiful thing about the Holy Trinity is how they worked together in creation, knitting the universe out of nothing; how they worked together in our atonement of our sins; and how they continue to work together in all aspects of our redemption. We are created in love to be a community of loving persons, just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are united in love.
Just as God is God only in a Trinitarian relationship, so we can be fully human only as one member of a relationship of three partners.  The self needs to be in a horizontal relationship with all other people and in a vertical relationship with God.  In that way, our life becomes Trinitarian like that of God.
